Jomar on Film

Any sewing person who knows Philadelphia knows Jomar. Jomar sells great fabrics cheaply. Like the exact same $50 per yard silk I saw at G-Street in the Metro DC area was at Jomar for $4. Yep, I bought it.

So, US unemployment has risen to 8.5%. Credit has dried up despite our federal government's largess to failing financial institutions. So newly reformed spendthrifts are interested in saving money. Well, wake up, world. Some of us have been shopping Jomar for over 20 years. They recently were featured in a local TV spot. Want a 'taste' of Jomar? Check out this video. Dare I say it's worth your coming to Philadelphia if only to visit Jomar? Yep, Jomar has a lot of schlocky stuff. But a lot of treasures are hidden among the dreck.

So come to Philadelphia. My home city. Philadelphia - City of Brotherly Love. Philadelphia - "Cradle of Liberty", where the US declared Independence from Mother Britain back in 1776. Philadelphia - Home of Cheesesteaks, Rocky Balboa, the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Soft Pretzels. Philadelphia - Where smart people visit Jomar. (Jomar doesn't pay me for saying this stuff. Maybe they should?)

I remember calling and emailing girlfriends from Jomar to tell them what was there and taking orders. Yep. It's two hours from me and totally worth it.

I keep fantasizing about going back. There is a cheap Chinatown bus service from DC to Philly....

That's interesting. I didn't realize they had anything but fabric. Of course, I'd only come for the fabric, since I hate shopping for anything else :-)

Sounds like a wonderful place. You have a gem in your neighborhood--lucky you!

I live in the Philadelphia area and I've only been to JoMar once. On that day, I really didn't have the time and I wasn't in the mood to dig through the "dreck" but I do intend to go back.

My friends and I use to make bi-annual treks to Jomars for years! I still have pieces in the fabric closet purchased from them. I even found your original website because of a posting you did on Jomars! Yes, I'm one of the ones that LOVE Jomars and haven't been recently only because I believe that I couldn't get out of there without dropping several hundred dollars or purchasing several hundred yards of fabric...IT IS that AMAZING!!!

That was a great video and great plug for them!!!
