Eminently Brilliant

Nick has been trying to get me to let him install some better lighting. I kept putting him off, but the other week, he went to the Home Depot and came back with a humungous light fixture. He didn't even tell me he was doing it. So, he installed it, and I liked it so much, he installed another, right next to the first one. So now I have two large flourescent light fixtures on my ceiling. Nick's my hero. Did you know that Nick and I have been married for almost 25 years?

The sewing room is as bright as a factory floor! I can see black threads on black fabric, even in the depths of night. On the bad side, dust, dirt, and such is also very apparent. Time for a good cleaning! Fremont approves.

Wow, nice (hubby and light)!!

I put compact daylight fluorescent lights in my sewing room, which brightened things considerably. However, I still have a couple of dim spots. Oh well, I guess it's a function of using an existing ceiling fixture.

But your lights are awesome! It must be so nice to see absolutely everything, even if some of it is debris.

Wow, that's quite a big fixture - and so bright! While my eyes are pretty good I have been noticing that I seem to need more light lately. I do have a fluorescent ceiling fixture but now I'm thinking that I need to replace it with a large one like yours.

Congrats on the 25 years!

Big and bright is wonderful. I replaced some flourescent bulbs (the long ones in ceiling fixtures) with new ones from GE - the natural light ones they make. I was AMAZED at the difference just changing from standard flourescents to the full spectrum ones make. Wow!

You will enjoy your lighting, and wonder what you ever did without it.

The light looks great. When I had the electrician put mine in he grumbled for months afterwards that his wife and all her friends wanted lots of bright light in their sewing rooms.

Worth it though, as are the broader spectrum daylight bulbs.

That's probably the best sewing aid you can get. I had flourescents in Florida, so bright, people could see them from the street as they drove by. I now have track lighting, which I am gradulally filling with CFL floods. What an amazing difference! Love the photos of handsome DH, sewing room, and of course, feline supervisor.
