Transitional Dressing

I bought this, Hot Patterns' "Primavera" Dress, earlier this summer, with the best of intentions of making up a batch of this loose fitting style to wear during humid steamy days.

Time got away from me, and I did complete it before the official arrival of autumn!

I raised the neckline by 3/4 inch, but this was not nearly enough for my size 10 pattern. Oh well, I like the look of a black cami underneath anyway.

The way the pockets are constructed is way cool. They help stabilize the dress at the waistline, wrapping all the way around the front.

I used a rayon lycra knit from Christine Jonson. She has, in my opinion, the absolute best knit fabrics on the market for people like me who buy yardage to sew at home. Super quality, and the fabric lasts many years and many washings.

Hot Patterns have a thing on You Tube showing the construction of this dress - actually,I think there are three videos total, and I would recommend taking the time to view them if you're thinking of making this dress.

Very pretty, Barbara--love the print, and have to agree with you re: Christine Jonson's fabrics. Along with Ann's Gorgeous Fabrics I have two very fine sources for knits.

This dress is really cute, and I really like the print, too. Isn't it amazing just how low some of these necklines are? Makes me wonder just who's wearing them without alteration. The cami is very cute with it, though, so maybe it's not all bad. :)

It looks great! You can totally wear tights under that to bring it into Fall.
