I love to experiment. Since I'm not a trained pattern drafter, I use drafted patterns to learn, somewhat intuitively. In this case, I compared Kwik Sew 3408 to my Old Faithful Christine Jonson Wrap Dress pattern.
I like both, as I like both apples and oranges.
Shown here is Kwik Sew 3408. This pattern, as compared to the CJ pattern, has more coverage around the neck. It is cut larger overall than the CJ pattern. The Kwik Sew pattern has a bust dart and the curve at the armscye is bigger. To summarize, the Kwik Sew pattern is meant for less stretchy knits than the CJ pattern. The CJ pattern shows a longer skirt hem. Also, the CJ pattern is designed with a ruffle at the edge of the long sleeve.
My only regret with this dress is that I should have placed the fabric so that the darker part of the print was at my waist. Oh well, it's still wearable. And springlike!
