This Hot Patterns 103 halter dress was just what I needed for casual summer evenings out, when I want to look dressed, but not like I'm trying too hard. The print on the fabric is what 'casuals' it up. Wearing it with low heels would make it even more casual.
I lengthened the bodice one inch, which resulted in the back bodice being higher than the designer intended in back. I wanted it that way, to cover my halter bra strap. So I installed a snap at the side seam, above the wrap. This creates a bit more security.
I love how this dress wraps in the back - a double back - nice and deep wrap, so a stray breeze is unlikely to show my goods to the world. A good thing.
Nick calls this my 'stained glass' dress. I bought the fabric from Metro Textiles. It's a nice mid-weight cotton, which launders well. Wash and dry with nary a wrinkle.
I love this pattern.
