Aqua Wool - Elegant Drape
This, Vogue 1027, is by DKNY . I have wanted to make this for quite some time. I used a fine wool jersey from Metro Textiles in NY.
The skirt is cut on the bias. I might have cut the dress one size smaller, but it's wearable as is. I wanted an elegant drape - not too tight. Note the waistband application is gathered - because there's elastic inserted in the seam. I'm not in love with that look, but it was necessary to draw in the extra fabric. I could have taken the seams in, but decided to just go with the gathering - kind of a short, pseudo peplum. A little strange, but I figure it's ok, since it kind of looks deliberate.
I love the fabric - I pre-washed it, so this dress will be hand washable. Being a fine grade wool, the fibers are resilient and wrinkle-proof, plus comfortable in all weather. Normally, I can not wear wool next to my skin, but this wool is so soft, it's not a problem in this fabric. Indicative of how fine this fabric is - when I saw this fabric while shopping, the bolt was mistakenly placed amidst the Rayons, where at first glance it looks like it would belong, being so fine and weighty and drapy.

Such a pretty dress Barbara!
Fabulous dress - it looks stunning on you!
Lookin' hot!!
Barbara - this is such an awesome dress! Love the color on you!
You look so great in longer dresses, and that color is gorgeous on you! The fabric sounds yummy too. Wish I could wear dresses like that, but being short and round I think I'd look like a Martha Stewart upholstered ottoman.
Just Lovely!
So pretty! I love it :)
Beautiful dress! It looks amazing on you :)
I love this dress on you. I swear I bought the same fabric from Kashi a while back. I never thought to use it for this dress, which I have made too.
It looks fabulous! I like it!
What a beautiful dress! I love everything you make, Barbara, and this is no exception.
Beautiful dress, beautiful color, beautiful you.
