Purple Pencil

I made a quick skirt to wear with my recently finished purple top. Christine Jonson's Pencil Skirt has been a favorite of mine for about 10 years. I used a polyester/rayon/lycra double knit, also from Christine. It's called Ponte Double Knit. I really like Christine's autumn knit collection, and recently indulged in a sizable order.

Since this knit stretches about 20%, and the pattern was designed for a stretchier knit, so I sized up about 1 1/2 size from my normal size on this pattern. The skirt fit pretty well. A bit loose, and that was what I was looking for. I will only wear this under a long (hip length) overgarment.

I finished the hem with my handy dandy Reliable blind hemmer.

Check out my new pattern weights! I got these from Liana. These are prototypes, and she's planning to put them into production and sell them at some point. They are stainless steel, smooth, and light enough to handle easily, but heavy enough to get the job done. I love the long rectangular shape. Efficient. No need to position a bevy of weights - one or three of these will get the job done.

I love ponte double knit. I made a black pencil skirt in this fabric nearly two years ago and it is still going strong. The stretch is great for a firm but comfortable fit.

Great skirt Barbara, and it's so exciting to see 'my' weights featured! We're hoping to make these available soon.
